Programmes for Women

Women's Support and Education Programmes:

Abusive or violent relationships come in a number of forms. These may include verbal, emotional, physical or sexual abuse (including making threats, name-calling, controlling who you see, putting you down, hitting you, imposing sexual contact upon you, using humiliating sexual language or breaking objects). Our Women's Support and Education programmes support women who have experienced any type of abusive or violent relationship. The programme includes:

  • Providing support from women who understand your experiences
  • Offering a safe, confidential environment in which to talk about your experiences
  • Providing information about ways to keep yourself and your children safe
  • Helping you see what choices you have about leaving or staying in the relationship (for those women still in an abusive or violent relationship)
  • Understanding the dynamics of abusive relationships (so you don't enter another one)
  • Giving you the opportunity to plan for a brighter future
  • Informing you of support agencies in the community

If you have been in an abusive or violent relationship of any type, then our Women's Support and Education programme will be able to help you.

Women's Relating Respectfully/Anger Management programmes:

Our Relating Respectfully/Anger Management programmes for women helps women address issues of anger, abuse or violence that they may be facing in their lives. For some women this anger may be related to having experienced abuse in their own lives. For others the pressure of everyday life (including financial pressures, pressures of parenting and so forth) may have become too much. Our Relating Respectfully/Anger Management programmes teach a range of skills for how to deal with issues of anger, abuse and violence in respectful ways.

Enrolling in our Women's Programmes:

To enrol in any of our Women's Programmes please contact us using the contact details on this website. We can offer you group or individual sessions and will discuss which of these would best suit you at an initial interview with you. This interview is free of charge. You do not have to attend any further sessions if our programmes do not fit with what you are looking for.

"This programme has really benefited my understanding of women’s and relationship issues. How to handle emotions, especially around my anger and how to be a better friend, parent, etc. I could not have coped with many of my personal issues as well as I have without the help of Living Without Violence. Thank you!" (Course participant, Sept 08)
